We encountered all weathers on our Brockadale walk .As leader I began to wondered how many friends I had lost on the way in view of the muddy conditions in the afternoon but everyone was happy and smiling as we were welcomed by a warming log fire in The Shoulder of Mutton at the end.
I may have taken over the mantle of dear Pat Clay inunder estimating the distance and timing but nobody complained.🤞 - Joan Four ladies enjoyed the beautiful countryside and interesting follies in and around Elsecar and Wentworth Woodhouse. If Agnes is a recent member of the group, she didn't turn up on Thursday! Thank you to all the ladies who ignored all the gloom and doom about the weather and turned up for my walk. I say "my" walk which implies that I led it when in fact I trailed mostly at the rear trying to urge the little dog I had promised to look after, to move forward. It was a Herculean task I can tell you. The weather was fine and became sunny, the wind was light and the walk proved to be suitable for ladies who needed a shorter walk. The scenery as usual was spectacular and we found our usual lunch spot high above the stream. It was lovely to meet several new ladies and as always lovely to meet up with familiar friends. I look forward to my next walk. - Lesley
Our members continue to walk weekly, however fewer blogs are now posted as we now have our own Facebook Group.
This gives those members who join the group the opportunity to post their own photos and comments. It is a much more secure and immediate platform. If you are a member of our group and you miss seeing the blogs. Join facebook, create your own profile and ask to join our Facebook group. - Lise Last day of Summer? What a glorious day with spectacular 360 views.28 of us had this privilege. So many thanks to Caroline.I wonder how many photos we will get of Jules and her lunch partner donkey? Lovely clouds today. Jules and her new friend. Donkey checking out what the ladies are having for lunch.
Many thanks to Pat and Bronners today. An interesting and fairly challenging walk at times but 18 of us survived and thoroughly the adventure 😅
Our walk took us from Anglers Country Park to the Waterton Park estate, where we learnt a little of the history of Charles Waterton, an early environmentalist.
We successfully wound our way through the estate, bypassing the golf course, enjoying a drinks break overlooking the lake, before enjoying the peace of the woods and tracks leading back to Anglers. By the time we edged round the lake at Anglers, the sun was fighting back, so we arrived back at the Visitors' Centre ready to enjoy an ice cream. And the walk was a little less than programmed - bonus!! Diane C A perfect lunch spot; somewhere to sit, a lovely view and the opportunity to cool one’s feet in the water! Everyone listening to pearls of wisdom from Pat! A cloudy day but such pretty reflections in the water. - Ann
