Glenthorne, Grasmere
Early May 2023

Picture
38 ladies travelled by coach to Grasmere. We took advantage of the hot drinks and dry public rooms at Glenthorne to eat our packed lunches, before checking into our rooms early and then exploring the area.

Caroline led a 4 mile walk up past Dove Cottage, then a short way along the Coffin Trail before dropping down to the valley and walking to the southern end of Grasmere lake. Where 13, yes 13 of us went for a dip. 4 of whom were "newbies". There was rather a lot of chatter and laughter but they all seemed to enjoy the experience. There was a brief dry spell when they returned to land and changed before walking along the lakeside and back to Glenthorne in the rain. a great afternoon out!
Caroline and Lise led a lovely walk past 5 lakes on Monday, we walked past Grasmere, Rydale Water, saw Windermere in the distance.  then passed Loughrigg Tarn and Eltterwater.
There was a shorter walk taking in Ryudale Water, several people took the opportunity to swim.
