Friday 29 January - Have you heard of "what3words" all you walkers?

29/1/2021

this information could be a life saver, so read on!

"what3Words" is a FREE app for your smartphone.  It gives every 3x3 square metre of the whole world a unique three-word code.  For a local example, the front door at the Fox and Hounds at Newmillerdam is ///haunt.fence.tastes

You can now e
asily find a what3words address for anywhere in the world.  what3words addresses are easy to say and share, are as accurate as GPS coordinates and more accurate than mobile phone locators.

Think how useful this is if you're just trying to meet up with somebody.  For example, "I'm in the car in the bottom car park in Cannon Hall Country Park, across the road from that Garden Centre just outside of Cawthorne" becomes w3w.co/fuzz.bumping.hunt so if you send this link to your mate it will show them the very 3x3 metre square you're parked in!

Handy, useful, clever, of course, but think about how you, as walkers/ramblers/hikers would find this, if you suddenly can't continue your journey because of an accident, trip, fall, medical emergency - or even if you're just lost!

December 2020 - Pre Christmas drunks - somewhere in Yorkshire

29/1/2021

Here's a cheery, bright and colourful photo.  This was taken at Katarina's at Christmas and, you might have guessed, brandy coffees were served. I'm guessing there was more brandy than coffee in those mugs!
