Picture
Just Gwenda and I for the pool walk 16th June. Yes it was too hot! So we did cut it short to 7.5 miles for safety's sake. We saw two deer so well worth the journey.

20 walkers gathered beneath the beacon in Little Smeaton anticipating the festivities celebrating the platinum jubilee of Queen' s  reign. This led to a lovely walk through the Went valley and Brockadale returning to The Shouder of Mutton before the downpour. - Joan

Here I am again! Eight of us had a very pleasant walk 29/5/22 from Rothwell Country Park, up to Temple Newsam then through the village where Gwenda grew up! We were very lucky with the weather and Jayne found me extra historical info!
Thank you to all who joined me on my trip down memory lane! - Gwenda

Sat 28th May - Kinder Scout

5/6/2022

Picture
Three of us set off to do Kinder Scout.

Lovely walk along the valley following the first part of the Pennine Way, a good climb up "Jacobs Ladder" to Kinder Low trig pillar, walking along the escarpment to the Kinder Downfall. Then the fun began!!!!!!!! the blurb says - 'area is almost featureless and one can become easily disorientated, be sure of your navigation skills'.  Yep, the compass came out as we followed what we felt to be a path, but but soon ended and in a direction of South East, we bog hopped our way to 'Crowden Tower' and what felt like civilisation as once again the path - a proper path and area was busyish.

The 9ish miles turned out to be 10, but my companions were very forgiving. Not sure I'd have walked across the Kinder Moor part on a bad day. However on Saturday the views going up and going down were fabulous,
