18 of us enjoyed a walk taking in Netherton, Overton & Bentley Springs. Lovely weather & sunshine at lunch time.
  A team of 5 set off on the wrong path at the start of the recci. It was the correct path if we wanted to do the circle anticlockwise, but we didn't. Luckily a local dog walker was very helpful.
After leaving the road we did a minutes silence for the Queen, enabling us to enjoy the sounds of the countryside. Following instructions from the book we enjoyed a very flat walk. Straying off the route just before lunch time, as avoiding some cows and a hiding sign post, took us the wrong way. Lunch was by the river Ouse, which we then followed back to Nether Poppleton. Two Swifty bonuses, but about right with the mileage. Thanks to the rest for their help and company.  Three of us enjoyed the beautiful countryside around Pool-in-Wharfedale today. After managing to cross the busy road we were treated to a flash of blue as a kingfisher darted along The Wharfe. Perfect start. There were lots of birds of prey - red kite, buzzards and a kestrel.   A very pretty family of highland cows shaded under a tree. A lovely day.  |
