June 21st, 2018

21/6/2018

Apologies for this post being out of chronological order but these 3 additional photos have just landed with me, from Elaine's Notton walk through lovely pasture and woodlands, followed by equally lovely coffees and cakes in the Village Hall.

Profits after paying for the hire of the hall went to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service, and at £45 donation there were smiles all round.

This is further to my earlier blog post ... thursday-7th-june-notton.html - please check this out too!

Oh, and if you're interested in hiring this brilliant venue, check out www.nottonvillagehall.uk for further information!

A happy bunch, probably because they're about to eat lunch

Sunday 17th June - Horbury Bridge, Netherton, Middlestown

21/6/2018

Sundays walk through Horbury, Netherton and Middlestown looks to be a joyous affair with some of our members finding their inner child.
Can I do this?
I reckon I can
Yes, I really can!
Whoopeeee! Look at me go!
You can do it too
Come on! I want another go!
Lunch is served so here they come
And I'll have a go now, while nobody's looking

And last but not least, here IS the oldest swinger in town!  Thank you for a great walk Carole!

Thursday 14th June - South Heindley, Havercroft & Wintersett

17/6/2018

Caroline ran this walk where, after last week's drama-filled walk when bugs devoured some of us, only 14 of us braved the wind and this week's insects.  It looks like the hay bails made brilliant wind breaks!

Sunday 10th June - Pately

11/6/2018

Here's a note from Jayne W - on what looks to be a beautiful day up high!

"A select few for my ‘Pateley and beyond’ walk last Sunday. Sunshine from the start and really warm by the time we got to the top of Greenhow Hill so you could say we were all ‘glowing’ at the summit! The views were stunning of Nidderdale and the fields were full of wild flowers.  Thanks for coming girls."

I know Jayne says "a select few" and there's only one photo so far.  I think some more may be on their way

Thursday 7th June - Notton

11/6/2018

This was a gorgeous circular walk today.  Maybe I'm biased because I live in Notton and the walk leader is a mate of mine but even so, 31 ladies set off from Notton and all enjoyed lovely scenery through cool woodlands, canal paths, dry footpaths (no muddy boots today!) and fine, sunny weather.

To top it off, we served tea/coffee and cakes in the village hall for £1 a shot when we got back around 1:30.  Our group did  us proud - and raised £45 for the Air Ambulance service.  I know, with 31 of us the maths don't add up.  I did notice a few folk had more than one piece of cake but with £45 to donate, who's complaining!

Thank you Elaine!

Oh, and Ann M found a tiny wee snake (skeleton) ... which some of us weren't too pleased to see but which fascinated others, so here's a photograph if you are in the latter category.

Sunday 3rd June - Huggate & Cowdale

4/6/2018

Chris H asked me to post these photos from Chrissie's walk on Sunday around Huggate and Cowdale.  Some smiley faces amidst gorgeous wild flowers.

And finally, some smiley faces around a few refreshments!

Thursday 24th May - 3 villages; Gomersal,, Drub and Hunsworth

4/6/2018

Janet sent these pictures of Jennifer’s lovely walk from Oakwell Hall, through the villages of Gomersal, Drub, Hunsworth, and back through Birkenshaw where she shared ice creams and tea.

She said "it was great weather, through ever changing views of meadows over the hill to the Spen Valley with the scent of May blossom and cow parsley on the air. With a picnic on the hillside overlooking Oakensaw with its tall church steeple"

- it all sounds fab (and quite literary Janet!  Thank you, though I notice there are no pictures of ice creams or tea!)
