Thursday 18th May - High Hoyland, Cannon Hall Country Park and Deffer Wood.

Lesley caught me to post this blog just before I go away - back 1st June so expect slight delays between now and then.

Here's her walk report, followed by loads of photos, with smiley faces and lots of sunshine.

"28 ladies set off today in slight mist but with promise of the sun to come.  The walk took us downhill through fields and woods and through the country park to where we had a coffee stop at the Pavilion Cafe.

One lady who knows who she is, decided to count all the stiles and Lesley who led the walk was kept up to date just in case she didn't know!

It doesn't take much imagination to understand that 28 ladies of uncertain knees and hips, climbing over 22 stiles made the time keeping go awry which meant that 28 starving ladies had to wait until 1.15 for lunch! Plus we were delayed even more by noticing a distressed lamb which necessitated finding the farmer.

The sun was out, the ground was dry, the views were beautiful and the conversation electric which made for a lovely day..  The drinks at the pub at the end made up for the stiles!"

Setting off. Looking forward to walking downhill!
There were a few stiles but they are no problem to us!

Of course some obstacles are just as challenging!

And finally, last but certainly not least ...

Congratulations to Chris.
You walked the Coast to Coast path and got the tee shirt!

A great and grateful walk report just in from Jayne together with some cracking photos showing lots of blue skies and green grass.

‘A glorious walk on Sunday in Calderdale had everything – great weather and stupendous location. We set off from Jerusalem Farm which was an event just getting there and took some expert driving skills negotiating hairpin bends and single track roads. The countryside was at its best and the views were unbelievable - I’m singing the leaders praises because she won’t. Thank you Chrissie’

From Jean -
"The bluebells definitely put on a good show for us today. It proved perfect weather for a lovely circular walk from Denby Dale, through woods and fields, over to Gunthwaite Spa. We finished up at the Methodist Church where Irene provided a welcome cuppa’ and scones; proceeds gratefully received by the Denby Dale Centre. Thanks to all for your friendship and camaraderie. Jean"
And thanks to you for your walk report Jean - and your photos, which judging by the happy smiling faces and when merged with some from Jennifer make for a bunch of lovely memories!

Thursday 9th May - Aberford

Great to see Denise return to the fold today and lead 21 of us on a gorgeous 6.5 mile walk around Aberford past Hazlewood Castle, mainly through beautiful bluebell woodlands.  However, since it rained SO much yesterday and a further few buckets full today, she also found a unique field for us, with specially arranged mud which stuck to our boots like concrete.  We all thought we were floating on air when the mud came off some fields later!  The walk was gorgeous despite the weather, and as you can see from the photo below, we were a happy and colourful bunch today.
We also managed a quick coffee afterwards at Aberford Interiors where they did a sterling job of serving several wet and bedraggled walkers.  Thank you Denise - you did a grand job today! x

Sunday 28th April - Worsbrough Mill to Wentworth Castle

Thank you all for the gorgeous array of photographs taken on this walk.  I'm sorry to have missed it.  It was clearly a beautiful sunny day and the gallery of bluebell photos is breathtaking.  Thank you Chris, Chris and Jennifer.
And to top it off,  Alison led the group and then sent me a lovely walk report too!
"After a very rainy Saturday it was a relief to read a good forecast on Sunday morning.  13 of us set off in the sunshine from Worsbrough Mill walking west on the Trans Pennine Trail.  We then cut back to Stainborough through the back of Lowe Woods and the Bluebells were glorious.
After lunching with the Duke of Argyle at Wentworth Castle we headed back via Broom Royd Wood with more spectacular Bluebells and onwards to Worsborough reservoir.  After 7.5 miles or was it 8 we were back at the Mill for coffee, cakes and ice creams." Thanks Alison.
