Thursday 17th June - Notton and the Blue Lagoon

21/6/2021

Thank you to Jennifer for her walk-talk below, and the four photos too.

"Today Jean led 12 walkers from Notton, taking in Royston, Barnsley canal, and the Blue Lagoon, 7 miles in total.  What a grand time we had!  The weather was very kind, warm, with plenty of cloud, and a little breeze.  We had lunch by the Blue Lagoon, so peaceful, listening to the birds and watching the swans, just perfect.

We had laughter all the way (bearing in mind, Jean did have the naughty club with her) Ha ha, you know who you are!

It was great to see people we've not seen for months.  Having Dorothy back, with her jay-cloths, spare knickers and hat was fantastic, very reassuring.  She'd forgotten her secateurs but will have them next time. Pat C had a pair though, so all eventualities were covered.

Back to Notton Post Office for coffee and cake, where Elaine and Jane came to meet us and say hello.
Lovely end to a enjoyable day."

Thursday 27th May - Anglers Country Park

1/6/2021

Another walk-talk and a few photos.  Thank you Jennifer ...

Caroline led a group of 12 walkers on a 7 mile walk from Anglers Country Park.  The weather was kind to us for a change; we actually had sunshine, and a warm pleasant day. The walk took us round Crofton, and on to Sharlston where we had a leisurely lunch on the Common. (Spied on by a neighbourhood drone).

After reading the local farmers amusing notice, we then headed back to Wintersett to the Anglers coffee shop to finish off another lovely day.

Thursday 20th May - Temple Newsam

1/6/2021

Not an official WWWN walk, but Jennifer sent me this walk-talk and a few colourful photos from her walk last Thursday ...

Five jolly souls met for a walk from Temple Newsam on 20th May.  The song (there always is one) "Just a walking in the rain" getting soaking wet was very apt.  But, did it stop us?  No!  The rhododendrons round Temple Newsome were beautiful, even though they'd had a battering with wind and rain, they were still a sight to see.

We had lunch in the Ground's Greenhouse among the geraniums and various other plants, to shelter from the rain which was now torrential.

The decision was made to cut the  walk short  and head for the coffee shop before returning home.  Good day with chums.
