"Not even a hot bath and a stiff gin and tonic could dull the pain from my aching thighs! How could I not remember the never ending steep cobbled path leading back down into Hebdon Bridge from Heptonstall! Anne skipped gaily ahead whilst Jean and I crawled back to the station!
Anne led a wonderful walk aided by wonderful weather that took us high above Hebdon Bridge across the moors, taking in the wooded valley alongside the river to Gibson Mill where we had lunch, before gradually making our way to Heptonstall where we sought out Sylvia Plaths grave.
The scenery is wonderful and although we had equipped ourselves with hats, scarves and gloves ready for typical moorland weather we gradually disrobed.
The train journey from Dewsbury is so convenient and as my first train journey for over a year I couldn't believe how chilled we all were.
Thank you Anne for such a super walk."
