30 of us set off from Notton Village Hall for this 7 mile walk around Royston today - and 30 came back so a good result. Thanks to Anne, Jan, Elaine and Jane for cakes which were served up with tea and coffee after the walk, with proceeds going to the Salvation Army. Some walkers took this fundraising seriously and tried several pieces of cake; even 3 pieces in one case but she should remain nameless!
The walk itself was a circuit around the village of Royston and took in paths along old railway lines, canals, through woodlands, and fields, some of which were muddy but we enjoyed mostly easy walking today with only TWO stiles! We ate lunch by the promised "Blue lagoon" which may be a tad over-optimistically described but was pleasant and came with its own entertainment in the form of a grumpy male swan showing off a bit. I'm told it was a male swan; I wouldn't know a male if it bit me, which this one looks poised to do once or twice today. That aside, a good day in the fresh air when the weather was kind to us with no rain. Photos will follow if I receive any.
