Having just checked the programme, to see how I "sold" the walk, saw in fact I had just put 10miles, no "ish". Which is very unusual and possibly an over-sight, as apparently the walk was 12 miles.(According to some pedometers). The Leeds Country Way leaflet said 5miles, but what is a few miles between friends!!?? A mixture of paths, pavements and mud took us to Golden Acre Park. With a slight detour through a wood, coming out a bit too low, but in correcting ourselves, saw 5 Row deer, which would have been missed if we hadn't taken a "Swifty bonus". The comfort of a bench and lavotories were enjoyed. 11.53am wasn't too early for lunch as everyone was ready for it. The same route was used on the way back to the car, a bit like the "Bear hunt story" when we got to the mud - we can't go round it, we can't go over it, we'll have to go through it - again!! There where a few aeroplanes coming in to the airport - one of the reason's I wanted to do this part of the LCW again, but not that many. The complains about the mud - where ignored by the leader, who also failed to provide the usual sweets, but luckily a few "proper walkers" came to the rescue as they didn't fancy my finally remembered jelly babies that have now been in my sac for nearly two years. The weather was a lot kinder than we thought it might be, so only a bit of rain - just when we started lunch. . Chris S
