"As I set off to meet and greet at Carr Gate in the lashing rain I thought – nobody is going to turn up today - I can go straight back home and read the Sunday papers. Wrong! Another 7 nutters had turned up to brave gale force winds and downpours on top of Ogden moor for my moderate/ strenuous 9 mile Sunday offering. Mad or what? Someone said it would be ‘character building’ and then some. Low cloud meant no views - so it was head down - plough on and accept getting soaked to the skin, despite the expensive ‘waterproof’ walking gear. The photograph of the girls is almost at the end when of course it had stopped raining. Just before we got back to the car park the sun was peeping through the clouds. You couldn’t make it up!
