I was especially happy when Caroline decided that I should be the recipient of one of her date and walnut buns. Heavenly! What more could I ask.
The walk took us down to and and alongside the reservoir where we took a roll call and then gradually made our way up onto the moors. We stopped for a few minutes when a very important and deep discussion took place about the merits of different Celebration chocolates.
The moorland walk and the path down to the valley , named 'Little Scotland ' is a delight and the repeated steep inclines kept the ladies on their toes, or on their knees!
We sat for lunch on our usual high spot and because the various needs of the ladies had to be catered for regarding shade, sun, view, non-bracken etc, taking a photo of the whole group was extremely challenging.
We returned to our cars via the resevoir circuit and counted the number of fellow walkers on one hand. We did meet a concerned- looking couple who asked us where they were! We advised them to follow us but lost sight of them so don't know where they ended up!
We cooled down at the end with cold drinks at The Waggon and Horses. I endured the embarrassment of admitting that the walk distance was slightly longer than advertised! Never mind. It did them good! - Lesley Warden
