Margaret Smith and I prefer to work as a team. During Lockdown when we were allowed one to one walks Margaret and I became ‘walking buddies’. Today’s walk was found by Margaret and if I’m honest she’s done the majority of planning during this time for which I’m very grateful.
Thank you to all who joined us to make this a special day. It was a circular including part of the Wakefield Way which we have almost completed as I know a lot of the group have accomplished during this time. We cut through an estate leading up to Outwood Academy and spotted Soggy Bottom Garage!! A very creative person obviously lives here!
On approaching Lindale Hill some stopped to admire cute ponies. We spaced out on Lindale hill for lunch.Margaret Firth spotting a very hairy caterpillar ,Steph feeling very relaxed😅and Betty treating us all to yummy flapjack - thank you
😋.Some of us also found out what a cony is!
Many thanks then to Pat C who suggested an alternative route to avoid trespassing through the Police Dog Training Establishment. At the end of Lawns Lane we came across The Old Schoolroom which was once used as a toffee factory. The toffees were sold on a stall on Wakefield market (this can be seen from the M1).
The humidity was getting to us as we came through Lofthouse Colliery Park and we thought we were hallucinating when someone spotted this face on the tree!
Long live the group with all its benefits and amazingly talented , friendly people.
Gwenda.😊
