It sounds like this was a great walk led by Caroline L, with post walk-words from Jennifer and great photographs as usual. "In 1812 an army of Luddites met at the Dumb Steeple prior to an attack on Cartwright's mill at Rawfolds. Today, 23 walkers led by Caroline met at the same spot to follow in their footsteps for part of the way. Caroline also did a a smashing job of telling us about the history of the area. The walk took us through woodlands and meadows, with stunning views all around. We had lunch in a pretty little garden full of lavender. The weather was very kind to us, on our journey. I wonder what it was like for the Luddites! At the end of the walk we called at the Inn once called the Three Nuns, supposedly haunted, to have a nice cool drink." |
We all enjoyed it.
