"On a fine day eight of us set off through Purston Park to West Hardwick, Hessle and Ackworth. Progress was slow due to catching up on lockdown news, but we had all day to complete the walk. A scheduled coffee stop in Ackworth turned into lunch in the childrens' playground.
Points of interest in High Ackworth were the Almhouses, the Plague Stone, and the Lodge from the Old Manor House that had been turned into an office. A large white fluffy dog (not sure what kind) said hello by sticking its head through a garden fence and barking loudly. Caroline managed to calm it with a pat on the head (brave lady).
Lesson learned by me from both of my walks - don't rely on postcodes for the directions to the start of the walk. There is always two of everything (two almhouses and two car parks) and the postcode area is big. Those who attended my walks will know what I mean!
Happy walking
